1932
Company formed by Hubert Schell in Olpe. Production of draw-off taps.
1935
Manufacturing of WC flush valves.
1949
Start of production for regulating angle valves.


1957
Dipl.-Ing. Günther Schell, son of the company founder, enters the company as managing partner and expands the company premises on Finkenstraße, Olpe to 10,000 m².
1962
Manufacturing of heating fittings.
1974
Construction of a new production and logistics centre at Saßmicker Hammer, Olpe, on a site covering 40,000 m².
1989
Expansion of sales network to include technical field services.
1998
Dipl.-Wirt. Ing. Joachim Schell, son of Günther Schell, joins the company management team.
1999
Ongoing development of sanitary electronics in the field of electronically controlled wash basin taps.


2002
Formation of a SCHELL subsidiary in Poland.
2004
Construction of a new building for production, administration, training, research and development on Raiffeisenstraße, Olpe, on a site covering 65,000 m².
2006
Dipl.-Kff. Andrea Schell, daughter of Günther Schell, joins the company management team.
2007
Launch of LINUS shower and wall basin taps, rounding off the range for public/semi-public sanitary facilities. SCHELL is awarded the highest international water rating for water savings.
2009
Opening of first branch office in India. SCHELL joins the Blue Responsibility initiative for sustainable sanitary solutions.


2010
‘SCHELL inside’ – focus on public, semi-public and commercial sanitary facilities, with wash basin taps and shower fittings, as well as WC and urinal flush systems.
2011
Formation of a SCHELL subsidiary in Belgium.
SCHELL becomes a member of EUnited Valves, the European fittings association.
2012
Formation of a SCHELL subsidiary in India.
2013
Formation of a SCHELL subsidiary in Hungary.
2015
Over 500,000,000 angle valves now installed worldwide.
Formation of a SCHELL subsidiary in Singapore.
2016
SWS and Single Control SSC – launch of the first intelligent water management system.


2017
SCHELL the champion innovator: SCHELL recognised by ‘Wirtschaftswoche’ business magazine in its 11/2017 edition as one of Germany’s most innovative medium-sized businesses.
2018
SCHELL included in a list of global leaders from southern Westphalia published by the region’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (product segment ‘Angle valves’). The company also receives the German Brand Award. SCHELL’s XERIS product receives the German Design Award and the German Innovation Award.
2019
The SSC Bluetooth® module receives the German Innovation Award.
2020
The company expands its digital portfolio with the SMART.SWS cloud service, for which it then receives the German Innovation Award. SCHELL SWS also receives the Iconic Award: Innovative Interior, the iF Design Award, the VSK Award and the Plus X Award.
2021
German Innovation Award presented to the GRANDIS E kitchen tap. The company takes regular steps to make its business more sustainable – by switching to 100 percent green power, for example, or obtaining environmental certification from Interseroh and the Efficiency Agency NRW (EFA).
2022
SCHELL celebrates its 90th anniversary.
