Tam Anh General Hospital

First-class hospital chooses SCHELL’s ‘Made in Germany’ sanitary equipment

Sanitary facilities in hospitals demand especially high standards of hygiene. There are plenty of points of contact in these facilities for spreading pathogens, which puts both patients and medical personnel at risk. Accordingly, Tam Anh General Hospital in Vietnam decided to fit the CELIS E electronic wash basin taps from SCHELL. The contactless operation of these fittings not only guards against contact infections but also saves water.

Project data:

SCHELL products:

CELIS E HD-K electronic wash basin tap
COMFORT angle valve with regulating function

Challenge

Tam Anh General Hospital offers its patients 5-star service according to international standards. This approach also needed to be reflected by the sanitary facilities. Apart from an appropriate design, high standards of hygiene also needed to be met.Not least because sanitary equipment is a literal point of contact that promotes the transmission of pathogenic organisms. The taps therefore had to offer contactless operation, so as to reduce the risk of contact infections. The fittings installed needed to be especially durable to withstand the especially heavy level of annual usage. At the same time, the products needed to offer water-efficient operation, and actively help to reduce the consumption of water and energy.

Solution

Impressed by the fitting’s high standards of quality, the project team decided to install the CELIS E HD-K electronic wash basin tap in all four hospital buildings. The fittings can be operated without touch, thanks to the intelligent sensor controls. The flow of water is triggered without contact and stops automatically once the hands move out of the sensor’s detection range. This effectively minimises any risk of disease transmission as a result of contact infection. This important requirement was even more critical when the renovation work got underway in the pandemic year 2020/2021.

The CELIS E HD-K wash basin tap also uses water very efficiently: compared with regular single-lever mixers, the tap can cut water use by up to 70 % while also saving energy for hot water heating. The robust, all-metal housing makes the SCHELL taps very durable and easily able to handle the significant levels of daily use in the hospital. The elegant design also adds a touch of class to the sanitary facilities.

COMFORT angle valves with regulating function were also fitted to help cut water consumption: once properly adjusted, these angle valves can cut water consumption by up to 40 % without affecting user comfort. In addition, SCHELL’s regulating angle valves have a sound level of <20 dB(A) and a noise class I rating over their full adjustment range. Regardless of how much or how little water is flowing through, the valve stays pleasantly quiet in any position. Within the protective grease chamber, a maintenance-free, double O-ring seal protects the brass spindle from water, deposits and limescale. This ensures that the angle valves remain easy to use and low-maintenance even decades after installation.
