Challenge

The fit-out for the sanitary facilities at the AP81 megaproject needed to fulfil multiple, specific requirements. First of all, the products selected needed to fully comply with the premium overall design of the Centre and offer first-class, robust quality. The sanitary equipment also needed to offer optimum support for user comfort as well as drinking water and user hygiene. Ecological aspects were also naturally of decisive importance, given the developers’ interest in obtaining Green Building certification: as an integral part of building services, sanitary equipment clearly needed to support optimised energy efficiency and help to improve overall building sustainability.

Solution

SCHELL was able to impress the project developers with its high quality, modern design and sustainable technologies. A total of 385 COMPACT II concealed WC flush valves with 387 EDITION Eco WC operating panels were installed in the WCs at AP81. This low-noise concealed flush valve offers a reduced flush rate of just 1–1.3 l, which makes it considerably more environmentally friendly when compared with standard cisterns. The dual flush offered by the EDITION Eco operating panels also helps to meet the construction project’s sustainability targets: the economy and main flush push buttons on the panels ensure that drinking water is handled as a valuable and precious resource. The unobtrusive and subtle visuals also blend seamlessly into the elegant interior design model chosen by AP81. A total of 722 COMFORT angle valves with regulating function and 387 bidet hand showers were also installed in the toilets. The hand showers, with their flexible connection hose and practical wall bracket, also feature a locking lever that offers two different types of actuation. In combination with the corresponding COMFORT angle valves, water consumption can be reduced by up to 40 percent.

Located directly adjacent to Koregaon Park, the most prominent and prestigious hub for the commercial market in the western Indian city of Pune, AP81 is now taking shape as a truly impressive project. Named after its two investors, Amar Builders and Pristine Properties, the 18-storey retail business centre offers an appealingly linear and minimalist architectonic style: high-contrast facade elements and stepped storeys set back from one another divide the building visually into three zones that simultaneously represent its different usage areas.

At the heart of this ambitious project design lies a sustainable approach to building combined with ultramodern building systems. With its forward-looking, climate-friendly approaches, such as an energy-efficient glass facade and the integration of IoT into building management, the construction project is seeking certification as an IGBC New Green Building.

AP81 brings together leisure, work and recreation within a single, efficiently designed building complex that perfectly meets the demanding, urbane lifestyle requirements of its guests. A luxurious reception area is located on the ground floor, offering boutique shops, restaurants, cafes and a sun terrace. The next two storeys above also form part of the shopping mall at AP81, offering additional sales space for retail and hospitality units. One of the most attractive amenities offered for office users is a rooftop lunch area with a large roof terrace.
