The Palais had to keep pace with the times to meet ever-more demanding requirements from guests and congress delegates. Retrofitting with zero downtime was the challenge needing to be met by facility management, so as to stay up-to-date while not compromising on either user convenience or ambience.

This was also true of the sanitary facilities, whose eight rooms were heavily used at break times during peak seasons. On other occasions, however, no water would be used for several days at a time. Accordingly, systems were required that would ensure adequate hygiene while being robust enough to handle a temporary but severe spike in guest numbers and usage. The focus for sanitary fittings was therefore on long-term cost-effectiveness and conservation of resources, as well as hygiene and user comfort.

The CELIS E contactless sensor-controlled fitting offers easy handling at the wash basin. Guests merely need to approach the sensor in order to start the flow of water. As soon as hands go out of detection range, the flow of water stops automatically. Regular flushes prevent water stagnating and counter the potential growth and propagation of germs.

The elegant EDITION siphon and the PURIS design angle valves blend harmoniously into the washroom decor. The outstanding workmanship and high-quality materials used create an elegant and aesthetically pleasing appearance. All visible elements consist of brass with a premium, chromed surface and a high-gloss polished finish. Noise class I is naturally provided as standard in this premium angle valve range from SCHELL.

The prestigious EDITION E urinal electronics were developed by SCHELL for its popular COMPACT II concealed flush system. The fitting offers contactless flushing and rock-solid functionality. The control electronics use infrared distance measurement to reliably detect users of the urinal. An operating panel in white was selected in order to blend in with the overall visual style. Thanks to the modular, plug-and-play design, installation and commissioning proceeds quickly and without errors.

EDITION E is also available with chrome and stainless steel finishes. The stainless steel variant in particular offers excellent protection against vandalism – although this aspect was clearly not an issue for the exclusive sanitary facilities at the Palais Kaufmännischer Verein.
