ASAG easy/thread beading: small details, big effect – for quick and secure angle valve installation

Faced with time pressures, stress and overtime in their day-to-day work, many tradespersons are looking for solutions that make things simpler while reducing their workloads. Every minute saved or step that can be skipped is a bonus in today’s fast-paced environment. Especially for everyday jobs like fitting angle valves, it’s the little things that make the difference. And this is exactly what SCHELL offers: with the patented, self-sealing ASAG easy connection thread and factory-applied beading, the installation of SCHELL angle valves is especially quick, easy and reliable

Complex requirements from trade professionals

HVAC and sanitation professionals are under pressure: a stream of new regulations, tougher demands for sustainability and digitalisation, and many other requirements are presenting the industry with significant challenges. The situation is being made worse by factors such as the skills shortage, a rise in paperwork and growing project complexity.

Skills shortage: According to the German Skilled Trades Organisation (ZDH), the country currently lacks around 250,000 skilled workers. An average of 20,000 training places are also vacant. This is resulting in longer working hours, higher workloads and overtime.

More paperwork: In a survey carried out by the ZDH, 74% of trade firms stated that they’d seen a rise in paperwork over the last five years – something that not only ties up time and resources but also makes businesses much less flexible. Added to this is the effort needed to comply with record-keeping applications.

Complexity: A greater level of networking and planning involving multiple trades is making projects more demanding and complex – with customer-specific requirements adding to the mix.

To address this situation, manufacturers must offer straightforward, quick yet reliable solutions that actively simplify day-to-day work for tradespersons – which is why SCHELL provides products that have been well-designed down to their last detail.

For any application: two ingenious thread variants

For the installation of angle valves and appliance connection fittings, SCHELL has developed an ingenious, all-in-one solution package: quick and easy installation is guaranteed here by the self-sealing thread with ASAG easy or thread with factory-applied beading.

ASAG easy – quick and reliable installation without sealants

The self-sealing ASAG easy connection thread is an incredibly fitter-friendly solution that offers maximum sealing quality while needing no additional sealants.

Important: NO additional sealant should be used, as this can lead to stress corrosion cracking and water damage.

Installation in just three steps:

  1. Insert: The ASAG ring must be inserted at least 3 mm into the mating thread.
  2. Align: For alignment, the angle valve can be rotated back by up to 360° = 1 rotation.
Important: The angle valve must not be inserted beyond the thread itself.
  3. Open: The valve is opened fully and then rotated back a quarter-turn.

Tip: As no additional sealants are used, the angle valve can be replaced simply and hygienically even years later.

Factory-applied beading – simple installation with conventional sealants

Fitters who want to use conventional sealants like sealing thread/cord or hemp also benefit from simple and quick installation with no time-consuming manual roughening, thanks to SCHELL’s factory-applied beading

Important: When selecting sealants, please follow the respective manufacturer instructions as well as generally recognised codes of practice. SCHELL recommends the use of sealing cord.

Important:

  • The sealant should be used only sparingly, otherwise it could cause stress corrosion cracking.
  • Fitters should also take care to use a standardised mating thread of a sufficient length – as the angle valve cannot be rotated back for alignment.
  • The valve is opened fully and then rotated back a quarter-turn.

When installing with hemp, please note the following:

  • Hemp must be brushed in
  • Thread tips must remain clear
  • Leave the first thread lead clear

Advantages at a glance

Self-sealing ASAG easy:

  • Fastest and most hygienic installation
  • Sealant-free installation
  • Subsequent valve adjustment in vertical position
  • Simple replacement of inserted fitting

Factory beading:

  • Conventional installation with sealants (sealing cord/tape or hemp), no roughening necessary
  • Simplified installation thanks to optimum level of roughening
  • Guarantees a professional threaded connection
